FHS' Stocker, Wilt win titles in their final TRAC meet

Findlay High seniors Parker Stocker and Selby Wilt ended their Three Rivers Athletic Conference careers as league champions on Saturday when both won individual events at the 2022 TRAC swim meet.Stocker won his specialty, posting a winning time of 53.73 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and touching the wall almost two seconds ahead of runner-up Carlo Carruba of Toledo St. Francis. Stocker doubled up as a TRAC champion this season, teaming with Xavier Doering, Joe Vasiloff and Matt Weber on the winning 200 free relay that posted a time of 1:30.48.Wilt entered the meet as the reigning TRAC champion in the 50 freestyle. He went a bit farther for his title this season, winning the 100 free in 48.52.Toledo St. Francis and Toledo St. Ursula continued their dominance of TRAC swimming. St. Francis, which has won every TRAC boys swim title since the formation of the league in 2011-12, piled up 689 points. Findlay was second for the eighth time in 11 years, outdistancing Fremont Ross 455-418. Toledo St. John's was fourth (292), followed by Oregon Clay (112), Toledo Whitmer (109) and Lima Senior (56).St. Ursula won a fifth straight girls TRAC championship, scoring 630 points to finish well ahead of Toledo Notre Dame (433) and Fremont Ross (419). Findlay was fourth (306), followed by Oregon Clay (132), Lima Senior (69), Toledo Central Catholic (57) and Toledo Whitmer (46).Findlay had several second-place finishes in placing second in the boys' team standings. Wilt was second (21.85) in the 50 free, Stocker was second (53.62) to state record holder Scotty Buff of St. Francis in the 100 butterfly, and Ben Williams was second in both the 200 (1:47.90) and 500 (5:05.90) frees.Findlay was also second in the 400 free relay (3:17.34), while Doering placed fourth in the 100 free (512.20) and fifth (23.54) in the 50 free. Zach Doepker was second (343.65) and Mark Holman third (338.75) in diving.Claire Kemmere, Ceilidh Smith and Delaney Spradlin all doubled up in the girls meet.Kemmere was third in the 100 (57.29) and fourth in the 200 (2:06.39) freestyles, Spradlin was third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.25) and fifth in the 100 fly (1:07.16) and Smith was sixth in both the 100 fly (1:07.56) and 200 IM (2:31.70).Gracie Smith was fourth in the 50 free (26.69) and Findlay had third-place finishes in both the 200 (1:48.73) and 400 (3:59.97) free relays.Findlay's Kelsie Ritzler was third in diving with a score of 323.00.Omlor leads Trojan gymnasts to fourthPERRYSBURG – Emmy Omlor won one event, placed top 10 in three and was fifth in the all-around scoring in leading Findlay High's gymnastics team to a fourth-place finish on Saturday in the Panther Invitational held at Perrysburg.Omlor scored an 8.55 on vault to win that event and lead a 1-2 Findlay finish, with Emma Mitani second at 8.15. Omlor's fifth-place all-around total of 32.80 points included a fifth on uneven bars (8.00) and an eighth on floor (8.85). Makayla May scored a 7.85 and was sixth on bars for Findlay, which had a 127.55 team total and finished one point behind Toledo Notre Dame (128.55). Toledo St. Ursula won the overall title of the 13-school event with 131.70 points, beating out Anthony Wayne (130.25) for top honors. UF Roughnecks go 1-3.PAINESVILLE — The University of Findlay wrestling team beat Kentucky Wesleyan 38-6 on Saturday to complete a 1-3 showing in the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships held in Painesville.The Roughnecks, ranked ninth in NCAA Division II, dropped a 25-18 match to 12th-ranked Ashland on Saturday. In Friday's opening rounds, UF fell 37-12 to 24th-ranked Tiffin and lost a 20-51 decision to Lake Erie College.Two UF wrestlers — Branson Proudlock at 141 and the 174-pounder Hunter Reed — were 4-0 in the GMAC tournament. Both had a pin among their four wins, with Reed adding a tech fall victory as well.Mark Trifelios (184) went 3-1 for the Roughnecks. Zachary Collins (125) and Gavin Ritter both went 2-2.
