Lupe L. Moreno

Lupe L. Moreno, 89, of Ottawa, passed away at 6:57 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at Mercy Health – St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born February 13, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas, to Martin and Monica (Conteras) Lara. She married Apolonio Moreno Sr. on Sept. 8, 1951, and he preceded her in death Nov. 20, 2010. Lupe is survived by six children, Beatrice "Teresa" (Terry) Schroeder of Ottawa, Ester Moreno of Lima, Carmen Moreno of Spokane, Washington, Martin Moreno of Lima, Edward Moreno of Ottawa, and Apolonio (Kathryn) Moreno Jr. of McComb; 27 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Juanita Cardnas of Houston, Texas, and Anna (Paul) Ramirez of San Antonio, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul Moreno; daughter, Margaret "Margie" Moreno; two grandchildren, Rebecca Moreno and Chaz Moreno; and 10 siblings, Martin Lara, Raymond Lara, Ratugio Lara, Sara Fuentes, Maria Martinez, Frank Lara, John Lara, Ermenio Lara, Cecilio Lara, and Maximo Lara. Lupe was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and floral arranging. She was a member of Ottawa VFW Auxiliary. Lupe loved spending time with her family. Lupe's funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
