Matthew R Dysinger

Matthew R Dysinger, 60, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 19, 2022, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by those he loved. Matthew was born April 15, 1961, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of James and Barbara (Rasor) Dysinger. Matt and his family relocated to Findlay in 1968 when his father was transferred by Marathon Oil Company. During his early years, Matt played cello in the orchestra and was a competitive swimmer, serving as co-captain of the Findlay High School swim team his senior year. He helped coach kids in the Findlay area swim team from 1976-1978. Matt graduated from Findlay High School in 1979. After high school, he moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for five years. He attended Louisiana State University before returning to his hometown of Findlay. He turned back to roots in athletics and helped coach the Findlay High School swim team from 1983-1986 while also beginning his career as an insurance agent. Matt began his long and successful insurance career in 1983 as a co-owner and sales executive of Spencer-Patterson Insurance. In 2004, they sold the agency to Sky Financial, where Matt continued on the leadership team as a V.P. under the new name Sky Insurance. In 2007, Sky Financial and Huntington Financial merged, again changing the business name to Huntington Insurance, where he remained a V.P. Matt finished his career as Sr. Risk Consultant and Sales Executive for Knight Insurance Group. While numerous, some of Matt's many passions were community involvement and leadership. During his life, he served as president of the Hancock County chapter of American Cancer Society, served on the board for The Arts Partnership, was centennial president of Findlay Country Club, member of Recovery Oriented System of Care Committee of the Hancock County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS), and initial class of the Hancock Leadership program. Matt had many pastimes. A few were attending his daughter's sporting events and activities, spending a day on the golf course, tending to his yard and landscaping, detailing his car, and most of all, spending time with his family. Matt was dedicated to his years of sobriety from alcohol and to helping others struggling with addiction. For the past 12 years, he has spent "happy hour" with a group of close friends relating and sharing their experiences, strength, and hopes with each other in relation to their lives as sober people. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer (Payne) Dysinger; three daughters, Rachel Dysinger of Cleveland, Melissa Dysinger of Chicago, Illinois, and Charlotte White of Findlay; sister, Carrie (Dysinger) Bice of Lima; nephew, Tyler (Natalie) Bice; great-nephew, Pierce; and great-niece, Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Barbara Dysinger. When asked once why he stayed in Findlay he simply said, "It's my home — it's where I'm from." Matt's celebration of life will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2022, at Brix, 411 S Main St., Findlay, with an opportunity for loved ones to share words of remembrance at 6:30 p.m. All arrangements are being handled by Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave, Findlay, 45840.
