FHS girls lacrosse gains first win

Findlay High's girls lacrosse team earned the first varsity-sanctioned win in the program's short history on Saturday, beating Sylvania Northview 6-2 in a match played at Elmer Graham Stadium. Oilers sweep Ashland on Sunday CANTON — Brooke Radermacher belted a two-run home run in the first game and went 2-for-5 at the plate in the second in helping the University of Findlay softball team post 6-4 and 13-5 wins over Walsh on Saturday. Megan Demler, whose line-out brought in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning of the opener, pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to complete a 10-strikeout performance inside the circle. Lexie Hilling was 4-for-4, Caroline Turner had three hits and Savannah Harvey ripped a two-run home run in the second game. Radermacher's two hits brought in two runs as well as the Oilers improved to 19-9 overall and 3-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. UF pushes win streak to seven After Saturday's sweep of Walsh, the University of Findlay ran it back Sunday, sweeping Ashland, 8-0 and 11-3. In game one, Caroline Turner hit two singles, two doubles and drove in four runs for the Oilers. Devyn Zuro doubled two times and had two RBIs. Lexie Hilling pitched a five-inning, three-strikeout complete game. In game two, Makayla Cowan had a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the first that opened things up, 6-0. Hilling smacked a two-run homer. Megan Demler went six innings and struck out nine. UF baseball splits series with TN Cam Farrar blasted a three-run homer in the top of the first and homered again in the third to give Findlay a 4-0 lead. That proved to be enough as the Oiler beat Trevecca Nazarene, 4-1, in the first game of the doubleheader Sunday. Jordan Bekier dominated on the mound for the Oilers, throwing seven innings of one-run baseball with nine punchouts. UF couldn't find the same mojo in the second game, though, losing 3-2. Aiden Lao and Jabin Bates each slapped two singles for the Oilers. Andrew Micale had an RBI-single in the bottom of the sixth to tie things at one. Shanw Wallwork picked up two singles and a double for the Trojans in game two. Lindell sets record in Oilers' 19-10 win TIFFIN — Kendra Lindell drew a school-record 13 draw control for the University of Findlay in the Oilers' 19-10 win on Sunday over Tiffin. Lindell scored four goals and dished out two assists as well. Allie Kasprzyk, Danielle Dilorenzo and Izzy Murphy-Morrow each had three goals apiece. Olivia Alvarado, senior Adriana Santucci and Mackenzie Cole scored two goals each. Bluffton fifth LIMA – Bluffton's No. 1 doubles team of Eli Wenger and Ayden Diller placed fourth in their bracket and the Pirates were fifth as a team in the Lima City tennis tournament held on Saturday. Following an 8-3 consolation round win over Lima Senior's Chase Hipsher and Noah Engberg, Wenger and Diller fell 8-3 to Lima Central Catholic's Drew and Brayden Hubbard in the match for third and fourth place. Lima Bath (28 points) edged LCC (25) and Marion Harding (24) for the title in the six-school event. Elida was fourth (17), Bluffton fifth (8) and Lima Senior sixth (7).
