H-L takes third in boys, sixth in girls at Lakota Relays

KANSAS — Hopewell-Loudon's Sherron Jones swept the sprints on Saturday in leading the Chieftains to a third-place finish in the Lakota Relays.A returning state qualifier, Jones won the 100- (11.08), 200- (22.82) and 400-meter (50.95) dashes. He also anchored Hopewell-Loudon's runner-up 800-meter relay (1:33.23) team that included Justin Holland, George Beucler and Nico Garcia.Ryan Cook, another state qualifier for the Chieftains, earned Hopewell-Loudon 18 points by winning the shot put (49 2-3/4) and placing second in the discus. Clyde edged Otsego 121-119 for the boys title. Hopewell-Loudon was third (100) and Fostoria 12th (10).The girls competition was also close, with Margaretta (136) winning the title over Woodmore (130.5). Hopewell-Loudon's girls were sixth (48) and Fostoria ninth (29.5).Alivia Roerdink was an individual event champion for Hopewell-Loudon, winning the 800 in 2:30.67. Megan Kreais was second in the high jump (5-0).Fostoria's girls had two second-place efforts, one from Karma Williams in the shot (29-10), and another from the 400 shuttle hurdles team of Christina Maurer, Desiree Kimble, Yazmoni Kincade-Agapiou and Garyana Overton (1:14.75).
