Two injured in Sunday accident

Two motorists were taken to the hospital following an accident near Broad Avenue and Howard Street on Sunday afternoon. According to the Findlay Police Department, Shelby Swanger, 24, of Findlay, and Raquel Sterling, 34, of Findlay, were both transported by Hanco EMS to Blanchard Valley Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries following the 4:41 p.m. accident. Police said Swanger, driving south on Broad Avenue in a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, was stopped at the Howard Street intersection while Sterling, in a 2019 Kia Forte, was stopped at the same intersection while northbound on Broad Avenue. After both vehicles received a green light, Sterling attempted a left turn onto Howard Street, failed to yield and pulled in front of Swanger, and Swanger struck the right side of Sterling's vehicle. Police said Swanger's vehicle was able to be driven from the scene, while Sterling's vehicle suffered disabling damage and was towed by Dick's Towing. Officers cited Sterling for failure to yield. Also assisting at the scene was the Findlay Fire Department.
