NB offense, Loera shine in sectional final win

NORTH BALTIMORE — Teams typically expect their No. 3, 4 and 5 hitters to do damage against the opposing pitcher, and the middle of North Baltimore's lineup did just that. Laura Keegan (No.3), Meredith Buchanan (No.4) and Kenzey Young (No.5) combined for six hits and nine runs batted in for the Tigers in their D-IV sectional final win over McComb, 14-0, on Thursday. Keegan (2B, 3B) drove in three runs and scored three more, while Buchanan and Young each singled twice and had 3 RBIs. In the circle, Ariana Loera struck out eight and allowed just two hits for the Tigers. Kaly McCullough singled twice for the Panthers. REGULAR SEASON FINDLAY 11 NOTRE DAME 10 Elizabeth Crites smacked an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Alaina Steffes with the game-winning run, and Findlay High walked off Notre Dame, 11-10. Crites, a senior, finished with a pair of singles and two runs batted in. It was a bounce-back game for FHS, which was shutout Wednesday in its tournament game against Northview. The Trojans improved to 7-15 with the victory. Sophia Castellanetta paced the Findlay offense with a double and two singles, while Abby Langstaff singled three times and drove in a game-high five runs. Steffes had a double and an RBI, while Riley Endicott and Bailey Ashcraft each drove in a run. Olivia Mangas registered three singles for the Trojans, who moved to 5-5 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference. Emma Sleasman picked up the win in relief.
