Bonita Jean Gould

Bonita Jean Gould, known to all who loved her as Bonnie, passed away aged 82 on May 19, 2022, in the early morning surrounded by her family. Bonnie was born on Dec. 7, 1939, in Toledo, to the late Samuel and Mildred (Gillespie) Smith, her parents who she loved deeply and spoke of often. She married her husband Charles "Bud" Gould Sept. 21, 1958, and he survives. Bonnie is also survived by her children, Belinda (Ron) Harvey of Findlay, Beth (Tom) Hankins of Arcadia, and Brian Gould of Findlay; and six loving grandchildren, Kelly (Alexis Hennessy) Abbott, Matthew (Crystal) Harvey, Nathan Abbott, Adam (Adam D'Agostino) Harvey, Todd (Brandon) Gano and Shelby (Cole) Cook. Bonnie was blessed with several great-grandchildren as well, Presley, Braylen, Skyler, Brynlie, Cooper, Wyatt and Oaklend. She is also survived by a sister, Joan (Mel-deceased) Lafferty of Ashland, and a brother, Jerry (Rita) Smith of Findlay. Bonnie was preceded in death by her two older brothers and their wives, Samuel (Rosie) Smith Jr. of Bluffton and the Rev. Ronald (Joy) Smith of Lebanon, and a brother-in-law, Richard (Patricia) Gould of Crossville, Tennessee. Bonnie retired from Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, but her true passion in life was her family, with whom she was very close. She was loved immediately by anyone who met her, especially if they had the privilege of tasting her famous pies. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and her caring and gentle nature could be observed by many. Bonnie enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and chances are if you knew her, you own one of her hand-made "scrubbies." She shared her love through her cooking, and you would never leave her house hungry. She loved to travel to Las Vegas with her husband, as they did many times to celebrate their wedding anniversaries. Final rites have been entrusted to Coldren-Crates Funeral Home. A celebration of Bonnie's life will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Arcadia Lions Community Center, 301 W. Brown Rd., Arcadia.
