Barbara Tidd

Barbara Tidd, age 71, of Findlay, died at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Bridge Hospice in Findlay. She was born on Dec. 30, 1950, in Findlay, Ohio to Roger and Mary (Elwood) Wanamaker. Her father is deceased and her mother survives. She married Dennis Tidd and he survives. Also surviving are daughters: Stephanie (Brad) Rickle of Findlay, Shelley (Tim) Hooper of Findlay, and Sarah (Angie) Crace of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren: Kyle, Paige, Kevin, Olivia, Isabella and Noah Rickle; Katie, Allison, Emma and Elise Hooper; Blair and Brock Crace; brothers: Dr. Steven (Cindy) Wanamaker of Dublin, Ohio and K. Randall (Beth) Wanamaker of Findlay; brother-in-law, Rick Karen Tidd and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dad, infant brother, Mark and in-laws, Allie and Betty Tidd. Barbara was a 1969 graduate of Liberty Benton High School and earned her Bachelor of Education Degree from BGSU. She obtained many grad hours from institutes — scientific method classes. She had a 42 year teaching career, being at Vanlue for 28 years and at Arcadia High School for 14 years. She mentored new teachers, supervised student teachers, was an Honor Society Sponsor, an Arcadia Caring Closet Coordinator and involved with ACT tutoring. She taught at Owens Community College and the University of Findlay Occupational Therapy Dept. She was active in grant writing, being responsible for getting over $200,000.00 in grant monies for Vanlue and Arcadia. She was a recipient of the Rotary Golden Apple (Teacher) Award, a Jennings Scholar and the most influential teacher 12 times. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, active in mission outreach and Revive. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor David To officiating. Interment will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, east of Findlay.
