Megawatt scholars named

Six local high school students were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship during Ball Corp.'s recent Megawatt Scholarship ceremony. In collaboration with One Energy's customers, a $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually to local high school seniors pursuing two- or four-year degrees in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) fields for every wind turbine the company installs and operates. Megawatt Scholarship partners establish their own criteria and selection process, and recipient names are permanently placed on the individual turbines in honor of their achievements. Ball Corp. is one of the participating manufacturing facilities that enable the Megawatt Scholarship program. Ball winners include: • Clarence Durliat, Van Buren High School. • Johannah Thacker, Riverdale High School. • Christopher Cortez, Arlington High School. • Olivia Bodie, Liberty-Benton High School. • Matthew Keckler, Findlay High School. • Alan Woodall, Van Buren High School. Since the start of the initiative, One Energy and its customers have awarded $510,000 to students, including $150,000 with Ball Corp.
