Five injured in Putnam County crash

Five people were injured in a crash near Township Road D and County Road 2, Thursday in Putnam County. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Maurice Schroeder, 72, of Leipsic, was transported by Life Flight to Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, for potentially life-threatening injuries after the 5:11 p.m. crash. Additionally, Tahlor Kreinbrink, 25, of Deshler, and Storm Roberts, 30, of Deshler, as well as two juveniles, were transported for non-life-threatening injuries. The patrol said that Schroeder was traveling west on Township Road D in a 2008 Mazda 3 and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. He was struck by a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Kreinbrink, who was traveling south on County Road 2. After the impact, Schroeder's vehicle ran off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole, while Kreinbrink's vehicle ran off the right side and struck a traffic sign, the patrol said. Roberts, a passenger in Kreinbrink's vehicle, was transported by Life Flight to Mercy Health — St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Kreinbrink and the two juvenile passengers were transported by Putnam County EMS to St. Rita's Medical Center, according to the patrol. Alcohol and drug use are not suspected in the crash. Mr. Schroeder was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the patrol, while all occupants in Kreinbrink's vehicle were wearing seatbelts and child safety restraints. Also assisting at the scene were the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Leipsic Fire and EMS, Henry County EMS, McComb EMS, Ottawa Fire Department, 419 Towing and Recovery, and Dab Towing and Recovery.
