Children's Mentoring Connection to host educational sessions

Children's Mentoring Connection of Hancock County, a youth mentoring program serving children ages 6–14, will host a lunch and learn from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an open house from 6-8 p.m., both Thursday, at the Findlay Family YMCA, 300 E. Lincoln St. Staff will be available to answer questions about the programs and applications will be available. The agency is currently accepting applications for volunteers from high school age students and older. Applications will also be taken for children to be part of the programs. The community mentoring program connects a child with an adult mentor. They meet two to three times a month to have fun, learn new things and explore opportunities and interests the child may have. Mentoring is open to children living with a single parent and grandparents primarily. School-based programs are available at Cory Rawson, Van Buren and Arcadia elementary schools; Bigelow Hill Elementary; Wilson Vance Intermediate; and Glenwood and Donnell middle schools.
