Flag City BalloonFest announces scholarship winners

The Flag City BalloonFest, along with its longtime scholarship partnering sponsor Ohio Logistics, has announced its 2022 recipients. Grace Griffith is a graduate of Findlay High School, the daughter of Mike and Stefanie Griffith, and the granddaughter of Paul and Sandy Saunders and Charlie and Jeanne Griffith. Throughout high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, FHS Quiz Bowl, FHS Library Helpers, Hancock Youth Leadership, FHS Art Club, Findlay-Hancock County Public Library Youth Advisory Board and she also volunteered for a variety of organizations. After graduation, Grace plans to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design and major in production design with a concentration in theme parks and attractions, with the hopes of working as a production designer in the themed entertainment industry. Brayden Joshua Launder is the valedictorian of the 2022 graduating class of Heritage Christian School. He is the son of Josh and Melissa Launder, and the grandson of Tammy and Roger Erwin, Jeff Miles, and Harry and Ann Launder. Throughout high school, Brayden was actively involved in Heritage's soccer and basketball programs, chess club, yearbook, fine arts competitions and Honor Society. Brayden plays his euphonium for his church orchestra, as well as for several nursing homes. He enjoyed serving at Camp Peniel for Work-a-Thon and hosted food drives as part of the National Honor Society. Brayden plans to attend Maranatha Baptist University and major in Biochemistry with the hopes of expanding his science knowledge and working for a food/drink company or in a laboratory utilizing his degree. The Flag City BalloonFest will be held Aug. 12-14 at Emory Adams Park in Findlay. The scholarship presentation will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.
