NAMI offers mental health classes

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Hancock County will offer several educational programs in September. NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, eight-session education program for adult family members, partners, friends and significant others of individuals living with a mental health condition. The program is designed to help all family members understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own well-being. The first class will take place from 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 19, continuing for the next eight weeks. NAMI Basics is a free, six-session education program for parents, guardians and other family members caring for youths age 22 or younger who are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. The program focuses on learning about mental health conditions and how best to support a child at home, at school and when they're getting medical care. The first class will take place from 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 21, continuing for the next eight weeks. NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, eight-session education program designed to encourage growth, healing and recovery among participants. The program focuses on learning about goals, building support, communicating with health professionals and identifying a personal vision. The first evening class will take place from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 20, continuing for the next eight weeks. The first morning class will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 22, continuing for the next eight weeks. All classes are hybrid. In-person classes will be held at the NAMI office, 305 W.
