Pandora-Gilboa 2021 RECORD: 6-4 overall, 6-2 Blanchard Valley Conference. KEY GAME: September 16, at home, vs. McComb. Pandora-Gilboa graduated one of the smallest group of seniors (5) from one of the fullest rosters (47 players) of any team in the BVC last season. Still, the Rockets tied for third in the final league standings and fell just short of the playoffs with a lot of young players and new faces worked into the lineup. With the depth and experience P-G has back, the Rockets will be in the discussion when it comes to 2022 contenders for the BVC title. A challenging opening stretch of games against Columbus Grove, Bluffton and Leipsic will be a test of fire for P-G, but this Week 5 matchup with the reigning BVC champions will be one of their biggest games of the year. PLAYOFF HISTORY: After solid and extended playoffs runs in 2017 (10-3) and 2018 (11-1) and excluding 2020 when every school in the state had the option to get in, P-G's playoff story has been a frustrating one. In 2019, when the top eight teams in each region advanced, the Rockets were ninth in Region 26. Last year, when the OHSAA expanded the number of qualifying teams in each region to 16, P-G finished 17th. INTERESTING FACT: The Route 12 Rivalry between Pandora-Gilboa and Columbus Grove, one of the strongest and longest-running rivalries in the area, will get a prime-time jump on the season with the Rockets and Bulldogs squaring off at Clymer Stadium on Thursday, August 18. The two schools have clashed on the gridiron 64 times overall, and 48 consecutive seasons following a slight break between 1965 and 1973. The schools first met in 1950 following the consolidation of Pandora and Gilboa. Grove leads the series 44-20.
