Allen named head coach of Oilers football.

Kory Allen has been a part of the University of Findlay football team's coaching staff for 16 years, and has been leading it since April. On Thursday, the school made sure he'll be leading things for a while. Allen – who has been the team's interim head coach since Rob Keys stepped down April 20 – was named full-time head coach. He's the 30th head coach in the program's 130-year history. "Over the past few months since taking on his role as the interim head coach, Kory has shown incredible effort and dedication to not only his program, but to the department as a whole," said UF Vice President of Student Affairs/Director of Athletics Brandi Laurita in a statement released by the school. "He has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is capable of guiding our football program into the future and we look forward to continued success as he works to develop those young men on and off the field." Laurita made the announcement to the players prior to practice Thursday. The video of Laurita informing the team was later posted on the University of Findlay athletics' Twitter page The players celebrated the news, with several embracing Allen. "Having helped build this program in the NCAA era over the last 16 years has been extremely satisfying," Allen said in a statement. "A lot of players and coaches have put in a lot of work into making Findlay football what it is today. "I am humbled and honored to be selected as the next head football coach," he said. We will work every day to represent this school in a first class manner." Allen is just the fourth head coach for the Oilers since 2000.
