Huron County Community Health Improvement Plan

NORWALK — The Huron County Health Partner is presenting the 2020 to 2022 Huron County Community Health Improvement Plan. The plan focuses on the health of Huron County and creates strategies for the community's future health needs. In 2020, the Huron County Health Partners began the process through the Community Health Assessment. The assessment was administered countywide and collected primary health data directly from adults, youth and focus groups of community members and leaders. Secondary data from outside sources was also included in the assessment. From the data collected from the assessment and supporting assessments, the plan's steering committee identified Huron County's top priority areas to address as: • Mental health and substance use • Access to services • Chronic disease Objectives and activities have been selected with the aim to improve the community in these priority areas. These objectives and activities are outlined in the plan. Although the release of the plan was delayed due to the partners' response to COVID-19, the hope of the partners still remains that the plan will help focus community resources on these areas and bring health improvement to the forefront of community discussions. The plan's steering committee is led by representatives of Fisher-Titus, Firelands Counseling & Recovery Services of Huron County-Norwalk, the Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Huron County Public Health and Mercy Health-Willard Hospital.
