College First "The Stories Jesus Told" summer sermon series will continue Sunday at College First Church of God. Brent Sleasman, president of Winebrenner Theology Seminary, will offer the sermon based on Matthew 25:1-13 He will talk about being prepared spiritually for the future Jesus has in store and how to become prepared. The church will celebrate Promotion Sunday for the children's Sunday school classes at both services, kicking off the new church school year. Traditional/blended worship will take place at 9 a.m. in the main sanctuary (1100 N. Main St.), and a contemporary service will take place at 10 a.m. in Winebrenner Auditorium (950 N. Main St.). Lincoln St., will celebrate the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost with the Rev. Robert Cochran preaching from the text Luke 14:1, 7-14. There is one service — at 9:30 a.m. — during the summer. Special music will be provided by the Women's Chorus, singing "Prayer for Healing." A taped service will be available Sunday afternoon and can be viewed on YouTube by going to www.1stLutheranChurch.org and clicking the sermon tab at the top of the page. Access to the weekly bulletin and announcements are also on the webpage. Lutheran Social Services requests for this month are toilet paper, dish soap and canned meat/fish. Items can be placed on the cart by the elevator. First Presbyterian First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main St., will meet outdoors for worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Pandora/Gilboa UM PANDORA — A community meal will be served Wednesday, sponsored by the Pandora and Gilboa United Methodist churches. Dine-in will be available from 5-6:30 p.m., with carryout from 6-6:30 p.m. The meal includes a turkey sub sandwich, baked beans, macaroni salad, cookies and drink. The meal will be available at the Pandora church, 108 E. Washington St. St. Andrew's UM The 9 and 11:15 a.m. worship services Sunday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky St., will be led by the church's Appalachia Service Project team. Members will share their experiences during this summer's mission trip in central Appalachia. Worship will be offered in person and online (saumcfindlay.org or Facebook page) for both services. The 9 a.m. service will also broadcast live on WFIN radio and WFIN.com St. Marks UM The Rev. Dan Metzger will give a special sermon, "Hope Lives Here: Suicide Awareness and Prevention," on Sunday at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St. Volunteers from the National Alliance on Mental Illness and GriefShare will also be present. "Hope Lives Here" will be the sermon at both worship services — the traditional service at 9 a.m., and the contemporary service at 11:15 a.m. Both services will also be livestreamed and available at stmarksfindlay.org, under the broadcasts tab. St. Marks also offers a 13-week GriefShare program that is open to anyone who is struggling with the grief of losing a loved one. Classes are held at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays with the same content at both times. For more information or to register, call the church at 419-422-4236. St. Michael the Archangel The Rev. Larry Richards, a popular conference speaker and pastor from Erie, Pennsylvania, will conduct a four-day mission at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish at 7 p.m. Sept. 12-15. The purpose of the mission is to help people grow in their love for God and give them hope and direction in their daily lives. Richards has conducted hundreds of parish missions, conferences and retreats. He is known to make the love of God real in his presentations. He is the founder of "The Reason for Our Hope Foundation" and has many media presentations on "The Truth," "The Mass Explained" and "Confession," with hundreds of thousands of copies distributed worldwide. The nightly themes will include: Monday — Knowing God's love and practical information on how to pray; Tuesday — The gift of the Mass and the importance of the family; Wednesday — The Passion of Jesus Christ and how, because of that, we have freedom from and forgiveness of our sins; and Thursday — Healing service and focus on the new life of discipleship. There is no cost to attend. A freewill offering will be taken the last night of the mission. The event is sponsored by St. Michael church, 750 Bright Road. St. Paul Lutheran JENERA — A single 10 a.m. worship service will be held outside at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32, Jenera, on Sunday followed by the annual church picnic in the pavilion. The service will feature Vacation Bible School songs by children, recognition and installation of teachers, and the blessing of school backpacks. Boxed lunches will be served to ticket holders, but anyone is welcome to bring their own lunch and participate in fellowship, games and activities. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for the outdoor service. Trinity Lutheran Trinity Lutheran Church, 935 W. Bigelow Ave., will celebrate the start of the school year with "Back to School Blessings." All teachers and students are asked to come early to the 9 a.m. service Sunday and place their backpack around the altar. Students and teachers will receive tokens to remind them of God's constant presence, protection and love. During the offering, Katelyn and Kylie Rose will sing "Don't Laugh at Me," a song that discourages bullying because in God's eyes, we're all the same. The service will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook at trinityfindlay.org. Trinity will offer drive-thru communion at 10:15 a.m. under the portico at the main entrance. Pastor Will Stenke will serve communion while those interested remain in their car. A Wednesday worship service will begin 6:30 p.m. Communion will be celebrated. An Intercessory Prayer Team will meet via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays to pray for our country and leaders, our churches, people who have special requests and for any concerns. All are welcome to join the team, which is led by Pastor Andrea Starn. Those interested may pray out loud or quietly during the 30 minutes of focused prayer.
