Findlay claims third straight match

After dropping their first four matches of the 2021 season, Findlay chalked its third straight win on Monday, twice overcoming one-set deficits and rallying for a 23-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 15-8 victory over Sylvania Southview. Ava Buddelmeyer pounded 18 kills to lead Findlay at the net. Jillian Nicholson had 33 assists and Molly Crates came up with 29 digs for the Trojans (4-3) who travel to Toledo Whitmer on Thursday for their Three Rivers Athletic Conference opener. MARYS 3 P-GILBOA 0 PANDORA – Pandora-Gilboa got in a rut against St. Marys Memorial on Monday and couldn't get out, falling to the Roughriders in three sets by identical 25-14, 25-14, 25-14 scores. Corrin Luginbill was 17-of-22 spiking with seven kills and two blocks, and Makayla Suter was 14-of-16 spiking with five kills and three blocks. Peyton Diller was 71-of-73 setting with 14 assists for P-G (1-4). JUNIOR VARSITY: St. Marys, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21. VAN BUREN 3 HARDIN NORTHERN 0 VAN BUREN – Sasha Busey had 13 kills and three blocks, and Brooke Ingwerson dished out 29 assists while serving three aces as Van Buren swept Hardin Northern, 25-19, 25-5, 25-13. Kennedy Jones added eight kills and 10 digs for the Black Knights, while Ava Cramer added 16 digs. Selma Brant smashed five kills to go with seven digs. Brylee Ponn also had five kills for Van Buren. For Hardin Northern, Cadence Coy had four kills, Kylee Legg dished out nine assists, and Ava Hopson had 13 digs. Bella Wilson had eight digs and Lainey Thomas had seven. JUNIOR VARSITY: Van Buren 25-19, 25-22. ELIDA 3 BLUFFTON 0 ELIDA – After an extremely close first game, Elida was able to pull away from Bluffton, beating the Pirates 26-24, 25-17, 25-21. Bluffton dropped to 3-1 on the season. For the Pirates, Kendall Stackhouse smashed nine kills, while Gracie Yarnell had five kills, 17 assists and 19 digs. Avery Talavinia recorded 13 digs for Bluffton, while Avery Talavinia had 13 and Morgan Fruchey 11. Olivia Hobensack had nine digs and six assists. Ayla Grandey added four blocks for the Pirates. JUNIOR VARSITY: Elida, 2-0. LEIPSIC 3 TINORA 0 DEFIANCE – Leipsic received eight kills, four aces and two blocks from Kasey Brough, and sailed past Tinora, 25-22, 25-17, 25-18. Marisa Hermiller. Danaysia Danzy and Ava Henry recorded seven kills each, with Henry contributing two blocks. Alivia Jomes had 20 digs and four kills for Leipsic, while Alaina Brown registered 15 digs. Serenity Siefer dished out 30 assists to go with 15 digs, while Kamryn Brough served two aces and had 10 digs. The Vikings improved to 3-1. USV 3 CORY-RAWSON 0 McGUFFEY – Upper Scioto Valley cruised past Cory-Rawson, 25-6, 25-13, 25-16. Chelcie McVetta had three kills and three digs for the Hornets, who fell to 0-5. Brooke Shepherd had three assists, and Morgan McVetta had four digs. Tessa Elchert had three kills and three digs for C-R, while Katelynn Duffman recorded six assists.
