Beloved Under His Wings Beloved Under His Wings, compelling hearts to bring hope, is hosting harpist and storyteller Steve and Shirley Rees Peregrinnatti for two events. On Sept. 10, a musical program is planned from 9 a.m. to noon at 1806 Lakeland Drive. The event is open to all musicians. Immanuel Lutheran Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2300 Northridge Road, will feature Andrew Krueger, a son of the congregation, who will preach and speak briefly after each service about his vicar (intern) year. Krueger is starting his final year at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. There will be two Sunday services, at 8 and 10:30 a.m. The 10:30 a.m. service is livestreamed at www.facebook.com/ImmanuelFindlay. Children's Sunday school will start at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 11. First Baptist Sojourner Quartet will present a concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 1635 Fostoria Ave. Sojourner has been singing gospel music for 30 years in many locations throughout the United States and Canada. Through the years, they have had the opportunity to share the stage with many of the industry's top name groups such as The Booth Brothers, Triumphant, The Isaacs, The Hoppers, The Collingsworth Family and The Talleys. Since 2012, Sojourner has produced six projects including original songs written by group members, classic gospel songs, a top 20 all-time Sojourner favorites project and a Christmas project. Lincoln St., will celebrate the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost at 9:30 a.m., with senior pastor the Rev. Robert Cochran preaching from the Gospel text Luke 14:25-33. Special music will be provided by the First Lutheran Brass Choir, playing an arrangement of "O, Master, Let Me Walk With Thee." Holy Communion will be served. This is the last Sunday of the summer schedule, and next week two services will resume with the kickoff for Sunday School for all ages. First Lutheran will host this week's community dinner featuring a menu of three cheese rigatoni, fresh fruit, homemade salads and desserts. Panera Bread is available thanks to the Panera "Doughnation" program. The dine-in meal begins at 11:30 a.m. and will last as long as there is food. Items can be placed on the cart by the elevator. On Tuesday, members of the church book club will meet in the lounge to discuss "The Sweetness of Water," by Nathan Harris. Sandusky St. Worship services are offered in person and online (saumcfindlay.org or Facebook page) at 9 and 11:15 a.m. The 9 a.m. service is also broadcast live on WFIN radio and WFIN.com Trinity Evangelical JENERA — Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold a free chili cook-off beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 in the church and school parking lot, 105 Allen St., Jenera. Guests may sample as many of the special chili recipes as they wish and vote for their favorite. The usual chili accompaniments will be available. There will also be a bonfire, s'mores, hot dogs and cornhole games. Trinity Lutheran Trinity Lutheran Church, 935 W. Bigelow Ave., will open the 9 a.m. service Sunday with "In the Garden," sung by the choir. To address the transitions the fall season presents, the offering song will be "Every Road," which asks God to help and guide us throughout our lives. Communion will be celebrated at the service, and drive-thru communion will be offered at 10:15 a.m. following the service. The service will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. The Wednesday service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and communion will be celebrated. The church will go back to two services, at 9 and 11 a.m., beginning Sept. 18. For the next two weeks, Trinity will collect breakfast and snack items for Northview, Bigelow Hill and Findlay Preschool. The peanut-free items (to prevent allergic reactions) include: granola bars; boxes of Lucky Charms, Apple Jacks, Fruit Loops and Cheerios cereals; Pop Tarts; individually-packaged mini pretzels; Cheez-It and Goldfish crackers; and applesauce and fruit cups. The items, which will be distributed to children who struggle with food insecurity, may be dropped off in the church office this week and next week.
