Redmen can't run with Comets

FOSTORIA – Aiden Brunkhorst threw for 268 yards and a touchdown, and Alex Spencer caught an 85-yard touchdown pass in the first half as Genoa routed Fostoria in an Northern Buckeye Conference clash, 42-7. Aidan Antry ran for three touchdowns for the Comets, while Robert Messenger added a four yard TD run in the second half. The Comets first score came when they blocked a Fostoria punt and scored on the play. Spencer finished with two catches for 113 yards. Fostoria's highlight came in the second quarter, when Jordan Ferguson returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Ferguson added a 40-yard reception – thrown by Trenten Smith – in the second half. Defensively for the Redmen, Trenton Kirby had a pair of sacks, and Binicio Flores had one. Aidan Sprang intercepted a pass for Fostoria. Fostoria fell to 0-6 and travels to Otsego next week. At the break, O-G seemed to have the momentum. But in the second half, Van Wert took it back, outscoring the Titans 21-6 and pulling away for a 31-16 win. Kuhlman – who finished 12 of 22 for 197 yards and an interception – completed a 51-yard touchdown pass to Carter Duling in the third quarter. At the time, it brought O-G to within 17-16 of the Cougars, but the potential tying extra point kick was blocked. Rump had a big night for the Titans (1-5), rushing for 96 yards on 26 carries, and catching three passes for 95 yards. COLUMBUS GROVE 23 LEIPSIC 0 COLUMBUS GROVE – Defense kept Leipsic close, but Columbus Grove, backed by a 100-yard rushing performance by Trenton Barraza, shut out the Vikings 23-0. Brenton Renner connected with Shep Halker on a six-yard touchdown pass for Grove's first score, and the only points of the first half. At the break, the Bulldogs led just 6-0. But Columbus Grove got some breathing room when Barraza ripped off a 16-yard touchdown jaunt in the third, which pushed Grove's advantage to 13-0. Barraza ran for 100 yards on 16 carries, while Halker had five receptions for 56 yards. Halker also helped the Bulldogs with his leg, connecting on a 33-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Zach Reynolds added a seven-yard touchdown run after that. It was a rough night for the Leipsic offense, which managed just 100 total yards. That included just 13 yards of net rushing. Leipsic quarterback Quin Schroeder completed 9 of 14 passes for 67 yards. Leipsic QBs were intercepted four times Friday. Leipsic fell to 3-3, 2-1 in the NWC. Grove improved to 4-2, 2-1. He scored on three of them, and finished with 119 yards as the Rockets scored 35 points in the first quarter and sailed to a 49-6 throttling of Vanlue. Pandora-Gilboa quarterback Tanner Liechty completed 9 of 14 passes for 93 yards, which included a pair of touchdown completions to Aidan Morris. Morris, the Rockets' standout receiver, finished with five catches for 70 yards. Liechty also completed a touchdown pass to Colin Harris, Vanlue's lone score came in the second quarter, when Jerome Kloepfer found JR Snook for an 18-yard touchdown. Snook finished with two receptions for 65 yards. The Wildcats, at 0-6, travel to North Baltimore next week. P-G (4-2, 2-1 BVC) will host Van Buren. McCOMB 61 RIVERDALE 7 McCOMB – Andrew Swisher carried the ball five times for 95 yards, scoring a pair of touchdowns as McComb hammered Riverdale 61-7. Swisher – playing quarterback in place of Grant Dishong – also completed 3 of 6 passes for 63 yards – including a 47-yard pass to Braxton Althauser – as McComb built a 54-0 lead at halftime. Althauser ran for 69 yards and two touchdowns as the Panthers improved to 5-1 overall, and are unbeaten in BVC play. For Riverdale, Heath Dunbar completed an 81-yard touchdown pass to Carson Young in the third quarter. Carter Curtis scored two rushing touchdowns for the Polar Bears, while Nolan Hobson ran for two touchdowns and threw for another – to Carter Curtis. L-B 45 VAN BUREN 0 Kam Garlock completed 25 of 28 passes for 275 yards, which included four TD throws as L-B blanked Van Buren, 45-0. Garlock also ran for two touchdowns. He had 42 yards on the ground on seven carries. Lincoln Garlock caught eight passes for 90 yards, including two touchdowns, and Seth Elchert had seven catches for 89 yards, which included a score. Conner Hiss also caught a 10-yard TD pass from Kam Garlock, as the Eagles improved to 4-2. Van Buren's Parker Beilharz completed 5 of 6 passes for 40 yards. BLUFFTON 17 CRESTVIEW 14 CONVOY – Braeden Jordan and Landon Shutler each scored a touchdown Friday night, and Bluffton held off Convoy Crestview, 17-14. Jordan caught a 75 yard pass in the Pirates' win CORY-RAWSON 34 NORTH BALTIMORE 0 RAWSON – Preston Stumpp completed a pair of long touchdown passes, and Cory-Rawson coach Troy Korkate picked up his first win, as the Hornets beat North Baltimore Friday, 34-0. Stumpp hit Eric Davis for a 53-yard touchdown, and then found Dakota Hauenstein for a 74-yard score. Davis and Cale Parkins added rushing touchdowns for the Hornets. ARLINGTON 49 ARCADIA 0 ARLINGTON – Jared Griggs had for five touchdowns – four passing, one running -- and Arlington improved to 6-0 by shutting out Arcadia, 49-0. Griggs completed 5 of 9 passing for 113 yards, while Lucas Fenstermaker had four carries for 103 and a score. Brayden Agapiou also had a rushing touchdown for the Red Devils, while Caden Russell, Logan Mahler, Bray Kin and Jake Vermillion all caught touchdown passes. MOHAWK 28 U. SANDUSKY 7 SYCAMORE — Zaiden Fry scored four times, including once on defense, Friday as Mohawk dominated Northern 10 Athletic Conference foe Upper Sandusky 28-7. It marked the third win in a row for the Warriors (3-3, 3-0 N10), who never trailed in the game. Fry snapped a scoreless tie with a 3-yard run in the first quarter and Ben Bogner hit Brayden Chester with a conversion pass for an 8-0 lead. Bryce Hannam connected with Fry on an 18-yard strike with 10 seconds left in the first half for a 15-0 advantage. Fry shined in the third quarter, returning an interception 47 yards for a touchdown and catching a 26-yard pass from Bogner for another. The Rams (2-4, 1-2) got on the board in the fourth quarter on Kaden Holman's 12-yard run.
