Will my Canadian pension affect my U.S. Social Security? | The Courier Dear Rusty: I worked for 15 years in Canada and for 20 years in the United States, where I live. I will get Social Security from the U.S. soon and I suspect that I can get a smaller (20 percent of U.S.) pension from Canada as well. Does the U.S. claw back (all or part) of a Canadian pension from the U.S. pension amount? Is it possible it's a net loss to apply for Canadian pension? Signed: Dually Entitled
