Store/truck stop approved

Plans for a convenience store and truck stop, on the north side of County Road 99 and just east of Interstate 75, were approved Thursday by Findlay City Planning Commission. Racetrac plans to start construction in spring 2023 and open by year-end 2023, said Brendan Sexton, engineering project manager for Racetrac. The facilities will include an 8,100-square-foot convenience store, a 16-pump fueling station, five truck pump fueling lanes and a truck scale. Racetrac will employ 25 to 30 people at the site, Sexton said. The company is headquartered in Atlanta. It operates over 550 convenience stores in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas. Separately, the commission recommended Findlay City Council assign a zoning classification of "M-2 Multiple Family" to 3.9 acres southeast of Technology Drive and Midwest Court upon its annexation from Allen Township. The tract is part of a larger site planned for a complex of 160 apartments and 136 townhouses. Plans for the development by CASTO Development, of Columbus, were approved last May.
