Motorcycle throws two in separate incidents

Two riders were thrown from the same motorcycle in separate instances Thursday, due to mechanical failure, according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. A report from the HCSO showed that deputies were dispatched at 2:13 p.m. to Ohio 12, near County Road 9, in Liberty Township, for a single motorcycle injury crash. The report detailed that Alan Shoop, 58, McComb, had been travelling eastbound on a 1984 Honda motorcycle when he was thrown to the roadway. He was not wearing a helmet and was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital with unknown injuries, the report showed. Prior to Shoop's incident, the motorcycle had been involved in another crash, with Steven Heidlebaugh, 56, as the operator. Heidlebaugh advised that the motorcycle had been experiencing mechanical issues that resulted in his being thrown from it on County Road 139, near Township Road 89, according to the report. The HCSO report showed that Heidlebaugh had been wearing a helmet and received minor injuries. No citation was issued due to the motorcycle's mechanical failure and deputies were assisted at the scene by the Liberty Township Fire Department and Hanco EMS.
