Marathon Center to hold auditions for 'Moana Jr.'

The Marathon Center for the Performing Arts is holding auditions for Youtheatre's upcoming production of "Moana Jr." Auditions are open to students in grades 3-5 including an on-stage cast of no more than 45 students in addition to positions on the production's technical crew. This coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. Auditions for the on-stage cast will begin promptly at 6 p.m. on Jan. 16 and 17 at the Marathon Center, 200 W. Main Cross St. Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. All students in grades 3-5 who wish to audition or apply for the technical crew must register and complete the required forms which can be found online at MCPA.org/MoanaJr Students only need to attend one day of auditions. Those auditioning for the on-stage cast need to come prepared for movement. Youth interested in the technical crew will only need to register online. "Moana Jr." will be directed by Julie Lane and Lindsay Taylor. Performances are slated for March 10 and 11 at Marathon Center. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Jan. 31.
