Meijer prescription drive-thru plan OK'd

Meijer, 2200 Tiffin Ave., received Findlay City Planning Commission approval of a plan for a prescription drive-thru on Thursday. The prescription pickup area will be on the exterior wall on the west side of the building. The garden area will be moved farther north. Motorists would approach the drive-thru lane from the south, then loop to the east and then to the south to reach the pharmacy pickup area. The plan allows for pedestrians to safely cross northbound from the main parking lot, through the looping drive-thru lane, to the garden center via a "concrete pad" in the center of the loop. The pad will gradually rise to inches higher than the drive-thru lane. To help safety, the drive-thru lane will be made of black asphalt, contrasting with the white concrete pad. A crosswalk will mark where pedestrians would cross the drive-thru lane. Yellow posts will further prevent vehicles from encroaching on the concrete pad, said Matt Levitt, real estate manager for Meijer. Meijer also plans to make changes to the building's façade. Changes would include moving the westerly front entrance farther east and replacing the glass foyer on both front entrances. Separately, the planning commission approved a plan to expand a parking lot at 240 Stanford Parkway, on Findlay's west side, where Enterprise Truck Rental plans to open in summer 2023. Enterprise, headquartered in St. Louis, plans to store rental trucks in the parking lot. In approving the plan, the planning commission stipulated that Enterprise will have to plant shrubs to screen its operations from a residential neighborhood to the rear and west. Enterprise will employ five to 10 people at the site, said Jon Zuccola, property development manager for Enterprise. The site currently is vacant and formerly had been occupied by a construction business.
