Springfield scores two in seventh to edge Findlay

SPRINGFIELD 3 FINDLAY 2 HOLLAND – Findlay took the lead with a two-run rally in the top of the seventh on Tuesday, but Springfield matched it with a game-winning two-spot in the bottom of the inning to edge the Trojans 3-2 in the 2023 season opener for both schools. Trailing 1-0, Austin Sertell walked, Ben Best singled and Durham Heiserman delivered a two-run single to put Findlay up 2-1 in the seventh. After Springfield tied it in the bottom of the inning, the winning run trotted home on a hit batsman. Springfield left-hander Collin Leasure allowed three hits and struck out 12 in getting the win. Best went the first five innings, with Joey Bindas and Tucker Oliver finishing up. Findlay plays its home opener today when Bowling Green visits Curlis Field for a 5 p.m. contest.
