Court holds sixth annual Safe Surrender

The Findlay Municipal Court conducted its sixth annual Safe Surrender event on Thursday, April 27. This event was held for those with outstanding arrest warrants to appear in court without the fear of going to jail. There were 73 attendees. The were able to address the issues which caused the bench warrant. In total, there were 94 warrants cleared during the Safe Surrender day. The defendants who appeared were all held accountable for their offenses and provided a chance to make things right with the court. A large number of those who appeared needed to complete community service hours. Other issues resolved included rescheduled jail times to avoid missing work, driver's license issues, and arranged payment plans to pay court fines. Judge Alan Hackenberg and Judge Stephanie Bishop expressed their appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the day, including the Findlay Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.
