Candidate: 'Best suited' to oust Sen. Brown

State Senator and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Dolan visited the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce on Friday to talk about his campaign against incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. Dolan spoke to councilmembers and sheriffs from Hancock, Hardin and Wood counties, hitting on talking points about why he is best suited out of the emerging crop of candidates to take on Brown in next year's general election. "Unlike the last race, the winner of this race has to take on Sherrod Brown," Dolan reminded. "And that will not be easy." Dolan said he has a record of achievement and has shown good things happen when putting conservative principles into practice. Brown and Dolan come from the same county, but sit on opposite sides of the aisle. "I can cut right into his base, right into where he used to win," he said. Dolan said he's competing against four or five candidates, and some are yet to announce their campaign. He also said Republicans need to, and will, win 79 of Ohio's 88 counties, but the last nine will be the hardest. "The most important reason why is because I want to go to (Washington D.C.) to execute," Dolan said. "I want to go there to work on issues that matter to Ohioans in America." Hancock County Sheriff Michael Heldman and Findlay City Councilman Grant Russel already endorsed Dolan. But, Dolan said it might be too early to expect an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. "I think the work you've been involved with in the Ohio Senate has set the record," Heldman said. "I've worked with you a couple years now on different things and I'm very impressed with your record. I think you need to keep letting people know you've been successful."
