Master Gardeners to host vegetable seminar

The Hancock County Master Gardeners are offering a free seminar on the management of pests and diseases of garden vegetables on July 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Hancock County Agricultural Service Center, 7868 County Road 140. The speaker for the evening will be Assistant Professor Beth Scheckelhoff from Ohio State University Extension. Scheckelhoff is an expert on technical and horticultural food production in controlled environments, from traditional greenhouses to retrofitted urban buildings. She also provides programs to grow and market healthy, sustainable and profitable food crops across Ohio. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions with Scheckelhoff and other expert Master Gardener volunteers after the presentation. In addition, participants are encouraged to bring plant or insect samples of any concern they are seeing in their vegetable gardens. Light refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be given away.
