FHS tennis first at Ashland Invite

ASHLAND – Findlay High's girls tennis team opened its 2023 season by winning the team title at the Ashland Invitational. It's the third-consecutive year the Trojans have claimed the event. Katy Rubiolo took first place at first singles, while Caitlin England took the top spot at second singles. Meanwhile, the duo of Jillian Doll and Maggie Kenny won the title at second doubles. The Trojans host Ottawa-Glandorf today. (14-Sub head) FHS girls golf sixth TOLEDO – Ava Metz carded an 89 in leading the Findlay High girls golf team to a sixth-place finish in the Eagle Invite at the South Toledo Country Club on Saturday. Natalie Gutman added a 96, Josey Weihrauch a 104 and Rosalynn Mayle a 113 for Findlay's 402 team total. Lainey Ricker had a 119 and Abby Kasselmann a 127 for the Trojans, who will host 11 other schools, including Van Buren, at the Lady Trojan Invitational Monday at Arlington's Sycamore Springs Golf Club. (14-sub head) Footgolf ace Lima's Justin Graham scored the first-ever footgolf hole-in-one at Shady Grove Golf Course on Saturday when he aced the 87-yard No. 10 hole. Luke Gast and Darrell Perkins witnessed the shot, which involves kicking a soccer ball into a large cup situated on a putting green. (14 sub head) FHS boys soccer The Findlay High Alumni All Stars knocked off the Trojans' varsity team, 7-2 at Elmer Graham Memorial Stadium Saturday. The Trojans will host Bowling Green Thursday in the season opener.
