Man sentenced in shooting death

A fifth man involved in the 2018 shooting death of a Findlay man pleaded guilty Friday in Hancock County Common Pleas Court and was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Raul Moya, 29, of Toledo, pleaded guilty to first-degree felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated burglary in the death of Jeffery L. Gary, 56, in February 2018. Judge Reginald Routson sentenced Moya to 10 years in state prison for the involuntary manslaughter offense and three years for the aggravated burglary offense, Hancock County Prosecutor Phillip Riegle said. The two prison terms are to be served consecutively, making a mandatory 13-year sentence, Riegle said. Moya is one of five people who were convicted in Gary's death. "I also want to commend Findlay Police Department, specifically Det. Kevin Spieker and retired Det. Kurt Necker as well as several other officers, who put a huge amount of time on this case to bring it to completion," Riegle said. "I also want to thank my staff for their hard work all through this case that made it possible. We extend our sympathy to the family of Jeff and appreciate their support and consideration every step of the way." Others convicted and sentenced earlier this year were: • Ishmael Jose Moya, 27, of Toledo, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, with a gun specification. Moya was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Three years of the term are mandatory because of the gun specification. • Rudy Rico Moya Sr., 31, of Toledo, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification and aggravated burglary, both first-degree felonies. He was sentenced to a mandatory 17 years in prison. • Jayden Mark Edwards, 25, of Toledo, was sentenced to nine years in prison. He pleaded guilty to complicity to involuntary manslaughter and complicity to aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies. • Delfino Thomas Edwards, 25, of Toledo, pleaded guilty to complicity to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated burglary, both first-degree felonies. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on each offense, with the prison terms to be served concurrently.
