Suspect at-large amid police pursuit

BOWLING GREEN — Law enforcement is still looking for the driver of a vehicle stolen in Michigan who led troopers and deputies on a high-speed pursuit Thursday night. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Ryan Purpura said the Bowling Green Post was notified a Dodge Durango was driving southbound on I-75 in Toledo. The vehicle was located near Bowling Green about 8:39 p.m. A pursuit ensued after the vehicle fled from a traffic stop initiated by troopers. Stop sticks were deployed by Findlay troopers on the vehicle near Ohio 15, southbound exit 156, according to public records from the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. Purpura said troopers lost sight of the vehicle after it continued southbound at high speeds. The vehicle was located in a rest area around 9 p.m. and witnesses said a man ran into the woods. Purpura said a search was called off about an hour later after checking the area and responding to possible settings. The sheriff's office also searched County Road 313 for the suspect. The incident remains under investigation, Purpura said. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver is asked to call the Bowling Green Post at 419-352-2481.
