Findlay helps clean house

Findlay residents interested in doing some fall cleaning are getting help from the city. A bulk trash and tire drop-off for Findlay residents will be held from Nov. 2-4. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 2-3, or until the dumpsters are full, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or until the dumpsters are full, on Nov. 4. The city collected about 400 non-commercial tires in a single day at a bulk trash collection held in April 2024. It was the first time the city accepted trash tires. Dumpsters will be placed at the Public Works Department, 330 N. Cory St., where city residents may dispose of unwanted debris and non-commercial vehicle tires. Hazardous materials, commercial tires, concrete, appliances and electronics will not be accepted. Proof of residency or ID may be required. Non-commercial vehicle tires must be off of the rim. Residents should note it is illegal to transport more than 10 scrap tires at any time without obtaining a registration certificate from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, according to state law. Findlay City Council voted to appropriate $20,000 earlier this month to cover the cost of disposing of the tires and trash from the fall drop-off event.
