Make way!

A two-story apartment building will be moving through Findlay today, from 600 Grand Avenue to the 300 block of West McPherson Avenue. The move will cause street closures on East Lincoln Street, from Blanchard Street to Main Street, on South Main Street, from Lincoln Street to McPherson Avenue, and on West McPherson, from South Main Street to Summit Street. The streets will be closed between 9 a.m. and noon. Motorists are advised to avoid these areas. Construction of a 16-unit building on the south side of West McPherson, west of 333 W. McPherson and east of an AEP substation, could start this winter. It could be completed in spring 2024, developer Andrew Yates has said. The plan is to lift the Grand Avenue apartment building off of its foundation and then use cranes to load it onto a flatbed truck and drive it across town. Once moved, the apartment building will be stripped to its frame and readied for the new construction.
