Rams hand Tornadoes first loss

COLUMBIAN 55 TIFFIN – Holden Daris scored nine of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter and Upper Sandusky put together one of its best start-to-finish games of the season in knocking off unbeaten Tiffin Columbian 65-55 on Saturday. Upper (3-4) led just 45-42 entering the fourth quarter. Daris hit three baskets, though, Kaden Iles had two and the Rams converted 8-of-10 free throws in the period to protect its lead and hand Columbian (5-1) its first loss. Machi Johnson's basket to open the fourth quarter gave Fostoria a 53-45 lead. Perkins came charging back, though, and Mikey Young's put-back basket finally put the Pirates in front 60-59. Joey Diederich then converted 3-of-4 free throws in the final 30 seconds to earn Perkins (1-3) its first win. Diederich led Perkins (1-3) with 18 points and Tim Boals had 15. Johnson led the Redmen (5-2) with 19 points and Jayseon Tucker had 15. Jordan Ferguson had 12-points and seven rebounds. Zack Zimmerman scored 14 points for the Bulldogs, while Kolten Dysert and Slade Gossman put up 12 each. Gossman also added 14 rebounds. For the Hornets, Preston Stumpp registered 22 points. Blake Boehm recorded nine points and Carter Reese contributed five points and five rebounds for the Hornets. Ada is 1-6 after the win. Cory-Rawson dipped to 2-4. Cory-Rawson will look to rebound this weekend when the Hornets take part in the Bluffton/McDonald's Holiday Tournament.
