BVHS to build 'Wellness Park'

Blanchard Valley Health System, 1900 S. Main St., has petitioned Findlay City Council to establish a "Wellness Way" in the city. Council heard the first reading of legislation in regular session Tuesday that would change the name of "Technology Drive" on the north side of Findlay to "Wellness Way." In a letter to city council, dated Jan. 11, David Cytiak, chief financial officer with the health system, said it has purchased 3401 and 3411 Technology Drive. He said both buildings contain shelled space for future growth and expansion, and will be combined with the vacant property BVHS already owns at the intersection of Hancock County Road 99 and Interstate 75, to form a larger campus. Both buildings will be renovated to create a new multi-specialty clinic. Cytiak said the new campus will be named Wellness Park. He said the investment in primary care will bring rheumatology, endocrinology/diabetes, orthopedics, podiatry, imaging, an outpatient lab, and both adult and pediatric rehabilitation (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, etc.) to the north side of Findlay. "BVHS will grow services and continue meeting the healthcare and wellness needs of our region," he said. He said the street was named to suit the original purpose of the location, but now that it will provide medical and wellness services, the health system is requesting the street name to be changed.
