Looking ahead to next school year

Several Hancock County school districts have prepared or are preparing their 2024-25 academic calendars. Liberty-Benton students will begin the next school year on Aug. 21. Professional development days will occur on Aug. 28, Aug. 29, Oct. 14, Feb. 17 and March 24. All PD days mean no school for students, except March 24, which is scheduled as a remote learning day. Thanksgiving break is slated for Nov. 27-29, Christmas break from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1, and Easter break from April 14-21. Graduation for seniors is slated for May 25. The last day of school for all other students is May 29. Van Buren students will begin the new school year on Sept. 3. A professional development day will occur on Oct. 14. Thanksgiving break is slated for Nov. 27-29, Christmas break from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1, and spring break from April 18-21. The last day of school for students is slated for May 29. The calendar notes that calamity/weather make-up days will be added to the calendar beginning May 30, if needed. McComb Local Schools have not yet approved their 2024-25 academic calendar. The calendar is to be approved at their Feb. 14 board of education meeting.
