McComb interviews for superintendent

MCCOMB - After a position within the McComb school district opened last year, officials say they're ready to start the interview process this week. Candidates interested for the open superintendent position had until Jan. 12, 2023, to submit their application. Out of the seven candidates who applied, including one internal candidate, Hancock County Educational Service Center Superintendent Jeff Young, who is assisting with the search, said the district will move forward with interviewing four candidates: • Trisha Delaney, an elementary school principal at Noble Local Schools in Noble County• Danny Kissell, the superintendent at Continental Local Schools in Continental• Laura Young, an elementary school principal at Holgate Local Schools in Holgate• Jeremy Herr, a high school and middle school principal and the current interim-superintendent at McComb Local Schools. The position opened up when former Superintendent Tony Fenstermaker left the district in September 2023 after accepting a director of finance position at North Baltimore Local Schools. Young served as the interim-superintendent for McComb until Dec. 31, 2023, at which Herr took over. "I think it's important to probably note that there are quite a few superintendent openings around the state and so we are very fortunate to have such a great candidate pool," Young said. The second round of interviews will begin the week of Feb. 5. Once selected, the new superintendent will start their contract ahead of the new school year on Aug. 1.
