Hall of Fame announces 2024 class of inductees

Jerry Blevins, an Arcadia High School graduate who went on to have a 13-year career in the Major Leagues, will join five other local and area honorees when the Hancock Sports Hall of Fame inducts its 38th class in ceremonies scheduled for 6 p.m. April 13 at the Hancock Hotel in downtown Findlay. Also being inducted this year will be Jim Brockman, who starred in baseball at Findlay High and Morehead State University; Riverdale graduate Karen Kin Fox, a four-year basketball standout in both high school and at Miami (Ohio); Brad McVetta, a Cory-Rawson graduate and long-distance swimmer who has swum the English Channel; Rick Phillips, a four-sport athlete at Vanlue and then Findlay College; and Helen Stahl, who was the Blanchard Valley Center Special Olympics coordinator for 25 years. Also being inducted this year will be the 1992 University of Findlay NAIA Division II national championship football team coached by Dick Strahm. Tickets for the event are $40 per person and must be purchased by March 30. Persons unable to attend can consider a donation to the Hancock Sports Hall of Fame or purchasing a $100 hole sign for the organization's annual golf outing, scheduled for June 28th at Hillcrest Golf Club. The Hall of Fame, featuring 235 individuals and 30 teams, is housed at Tony's Restaurant where individual and team plaques, along with information boards and memorabilia, are on display.
