Findlay youth represents Elks at free-throw contest

The Findlay Elks Lodge #75 was represented recently at a state free-throw competition in Newark. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks held the state Hoop Shoot Competition to which area Elk Lodges sent representatives to compete. Along with Jacklyn Carper representing the Findlay Elks Lodge in the 12-13-year-old girls division, the other Northwest Ohio District Elks were represented by Myra Unrast of Mercer County #2170, 8- 9-year-old girls; Parker Moeller of Mercer County #2170, 8- 9-year-old boys; Myma Dreyer of Van Wert #1197, 10- 11-year-old girls; Marcus Eckstein of Mercer County #2170, 10- 11-year-old boys; and Keaton Elwer of Lima #54, 12- 13-year-old boys. Results of the competition are as follows: • Carper shot 8 of 25 to place 6th• Unrast shot 15 of 25 to place 5th• Moelle shot 22 of 25 to place 1st and will move on to compete at regionals, March 16, in Indiana• Dreyer shot 13 of 25 to tie for 5th• Eckstein shot 17 of 25 to tie for 5th• Elwer shot 23 of 25 and 4 of 5 in a tie breaker to place 2nd The Elks National Hoop Shoot free throw shooting contest, founded in 1971, is the largest of the youth activities carried out by the Elks throughout the country, a release from the group states. The contest is funded entirely by the Elks National Foundation, the charity arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America.
