Michigan man's death still unsolved

U.S. Marshals are still searching for a woman suspected of committing a "heinous, brutal crime" five years later. On an episode of the "Crime Junkie" podcast, hosts Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat discussed the 2018 case of David Carter, a 39-year-old Michigan man whose body parts were found dismembered off of Interstate 75, near Hancock County. The case was also featured in past episodes of Netflix's "Unsolved Mysteries" and during an episode of "America's Most Wanted." "In this person's act of violence, they took the life of a 39-year-old dad who was devoted to his son and his family and worked hard to provide for them in a small suburb outside of Detroit, Michigan," Flowers said in the March 4 episode. Carter vanished from Melvindale, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, in September that year. The Courier asked for any reports from the Melvindale Police Department, the original investigative agency. Lt. Nicholas Martinez said his department no longer has the report, but that it has been forwarded to the Michigan State Police. Martinez said Thursday he would forward the request to them for more information. In October, Carter's remains were found just south of Findlay by Ohio Department of Transportation crews mowing grass in the area. The remains were found in a sleeping bag near the tree line between Ohio 235 and the northbound rest area of I-75, about 1½ hours from where Carter was declared missing. Flowers said the body had been dismembered with a kitchen knife. One woman has been the prime suspect of the man's disappearance for the last five years. Tamara 'Tammy' Williams, 44, of Detroit, is wanted for first-degree homicide, disinterring a dead body and tampering with evidence following the murder of David Carter, 39, according to the U.S. Marshal Services. In September 2023, Williams was moved to the Top 15 Most Wanted Fugitives and is considered armed and dangerous. According to marshals, she has worked in the medical field and as a travel agent. She is known to be a world traveler and has ties throughout the United States. Williams is 5'5", 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. In the "Crime Junkie" podcast episode, Prawat said she Williams been known to wear her hair many ways, and has used wigs. Williams also has a large tattoo of six roses on her left shoulder.
