Out of order Having grown up in Findlay, I was very interested in the latest drama involving the failed mayor candidate and her obsessive need to personally attack the mayor who won reelection during the public comment period of city council meetings. I can understand the failed candidate needing the taxpayer-supported platform to air her grievances. People have different ways of grieving. For some, it takes much longer to move on. Others turn to therapists, personal journals, or find a hobby that makes them happy. There doesn't need to be new public comment rules just enforce the ones that exist. If someone starts with a personal attack, rule them out of order. If they do it more than once, keep ruling them out of order. Here in Toledo they don't allow public comments during regular council meetings. Personal attacks are not protected speech, especially goofy, unhinged attacks, and Findlay taxpayers shouldn't subsidize it. The failed candidate should pay for her own forum. Douglas Berger Toledo
