VAN BUREN 10 ARLINGTON 0 VAN BUREN – Cohen Stevens pitched a three-hit shutout and Van Buren rounded the bases at a consistent clip on Monday in a 10-0 Blanchard Valley Conference win over Arlington. A junior right-hander, Stevens struck out eight in upping his record to 5-0 and Van Buren's to 11-1. The Black Knights are 4-0 in the BVC heading into Wednesday's game at Elmwood (9-6, 3-1 BVC), which suffered its first league loss Monday at Riverdale. Van Buren is at McComb on Friday, then travels to Liberty-Benton on Monday for a front-runner showdown with the Eagles (13-2, 5-0 BVC). Riverdale trailed 6-0 early against Elmwood's Luke Armbruster, but pulled within 9-7 heading into the last of the seventh. Reiter, who had walked twice and singled twice earlier in the game, tied it in a hurry, following a walk to Mason Guckes with a one-out two-run blast overt the fence in right–center. Alex Russler then singled, Gauge King drew his fourth walk of the game and Lex Weber was hit by a pitch. Furr fell behind 0-2 in the count, but drilled a shot to center to bring in the winning run.
