Findlay tennis upends Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN – Findlay's tennis team swept the doubles matches at Bowling Green Thursday, and downed the Bobcats, 4-1. The Trojans improved to 10-6 overall, 8-2 in the Northern Lakes League Buckeye Division. In doubles play, Findlay's Ben Mayle and Owen Metz stopped Robert Seiffert and Keegan Kriska, 6-1, 6-3. In the second doubles match, the FHS duo of Jonathan Wright and Cohen Perkins got past Treyvon Ladler and Jackson LaPointe, 6-4, 6-2. In singles play, Sam Swisher knocked off Bowling Green's Aaron Hershberger, 6-3, 6-3. At third singles, the Trojans' Owen Vick beat Caleb Goff, 6-2, 6-2. Bowling Green's lone win came at second singles, where Zach Mangan outlasted Aaron Miller, 7-6, 6-2. Findlay will return to the court Tuesday for the NLL Tournament at Perrysburg Tennis Center. U. On Thursday, the school's athletic director announced that Brent Liskai – an assistant for the Redmen this past season – will be Fostoria's next head coach. The hire is pending Fostoria City Schools Board of Education approval. Liskai will replace Loomis, who stepped down earlier this month after leading the Redmen to its first Northern Buckeye League Championship in program history. "Coach Liskai is a dedicated educator and coach with a proven track record of developing excellent student athletes who grow into outstanding young men of character, and who become contributing members in their community," Loomis said in a release from the school's athletic department. Liskai was a head coach at Gibsonburg for two decades. In that span, he won 235 games and a pair of district championships. "We are confident that he will continue to build on our basketball program's strong foundation and take us to new heights," Loomis said.
