51 graduate from McComb

MCCOMB — Sunny skies were the backdrop for the McComb High School Class of 2024 commencement ceremony at the Doc Miller Field Sunday afternoon. "This is a time when we leave all we have ever known, and step courageously out into the ever so uncertain and frightening real world," Kianna Thomas, class speaker, said. "Yet, amid all the uncertainty, there is a realm of new possibilities and beginnings waiting for us." Fifty-one students, clad in red and black gowns, were cheered on by their loved ones as they received their diplomas from Superintendent Jeremy Herr and Board of Education President Lisa Mansfield. "Each experience we have had here has shaped us. And while we may not see it now, (it) has happened for a reason," Thomas continued. "While we may not always get along, we will always have something in common: the experiences the school has given to us – to form friendships and bonds that can last a lifetime." Blake Wittenmyer graduated Cum Laude. Grace Hassan, Emerson Lora, Mackenzie Schroeder, Kianna Thomas, Bo Tooman and Erika Voigt graduated Summa Cum Laude. Fifty-eight percent of the graduates will attend college, 38% will enter the workforce, and 4% will enter the military. The class was awarded over $750,000 in scholarships.
