Man could face life for raping child

FINDLAY — A Perrysburg man who pleaded guilty to raping a child and to child pornography crimes will be sentenced July 23 in Hancock County Common Pleas Court. Raymond F. Carter, 35, of Perrysburg, pleaded guilty this week to two counts of rape of a child under 10 years of age; and to four child pornography offenses, County Prosecutor Phillip Riegle said. All six offenses appear to have involved the same victim. Sentencing will be done by Judge Jonathan Starn. Carter could be facing up to 44 years to life in prison, or life in prison without parole, Riegle said. The child pornography offenses to which Carter pleaded guilty are: • Illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, a second-degree felony. • Attempted illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, a third-degree felony. • Two counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor, both fourth-degree felonies. Carter is being held in the Hancock County Jail and his bond has been revoked. He is scheduled for sentencing on pornography-related charges in Wood County Common Pleas Court on July 25. He has other charges pending in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.
