Former member named next FFE director

FINDLAY — Findlay City Schools' search for the next Findlay First Edition leader is over. David Coolidge, a graduate of Findlay High School and former member of Findlay First Edition, will serve as the next director of the show choir and as fine arts specialist for Findlay City Schools. His experience includes performing in the national Broadway tour of "PARADE," countless other roles and performances across the country and as director of six national tours with TheatreworksUSA, a New York City-based nonprofit theater organization. Mary Beth Coolidge will serve as assistant director for FFE, as well as the next vocal music director at Findlay High School. Coolidge is a professional vocalist and has worked as a voice and movement coach, instructor and guest lecturer across the country, as well as being certified in the Alexander Technique. "I am excited to begin my new role as Director of Findlay First Edition," David Coolidge said in a release from the district. "With my experience as director of two collegiate musical theater programs, I believe I am up to the challenge while fully understanding the weight this role will have in young artists' lives. "As a former member of FFE, I understand the importance of the group, not only to the school but to the community and state." "Findlay City Schools has full confidence that Mary Beth and David will hit the ground running, ready to inspire and guide these talented FCS students towards artistic excellence," the release states. "Their dedication to nurturing creativity, teamwork, and individual growth promises to continue to elevate this nationally-recognized show choir." Kevin Manley, previous Findlay First Edition director, served the Findlay City School district for over 30 years until his resignation in April 2024. He will start as a music teacher at Arlington Local School next school year.
