Area athletes shine at Senior Olympics

WESTERVILLE – Local and area athletes scored well in earning first-place honors and posting national qualifying marks in the Ohio Senior Olympics held at Westerville Central High School. Reuben DeBolt, competing in the men's 75-79 age division, won the high jump (3-8) and long jump (12-6) while placing second in the 50- (8.75) and 100-meter (16.68) races. His wife Mary was second in the 50 (12.64) and 100 (25.71) in the women's 70-74 division. Bluffton's Janean Shannon had a strong showing in the women's 60-64 competition, winning the 50 (8.01), 100 (15.22), 200 (32.12), long jump (12-7¼), high jump (3-10), and javelin throw (75-5) and placing second in the shot put (25-8 ½). The meet also served as a qualifier for the USTAF National Senior Games, an every-other-year event that will next be held in 2025 in Des Moines, Iowa. (14-sub head) Kuenzli cards ace ARLINGTON – Pam Kuenzli scored a hole-in-one at Arlington's Sycamore Springs Golf Course on Monday, acing the 105-yard No. 8 hole with a 7-iron.
