New details emerge on fatal Bellevue accident

BELLEVUE — A newly released police report sheds light on a fatal accident at a local automotive plant. Bellevue firefighters responded to Precision Automotive Plastics, in the 100 block of Hirt Drivel, just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday for a report that an employee was trapped under a crane. The police department arrived shortly after, and a witness to the accident led officers to the scene where they found a man trapped under a large metal plate. Firefighters "advised me that he was deceased and there was nothing they could do at this time until the investigation was finished," according to the report, written by Officer Michael Wagner. states. The report identifies the victim as 31-year-old Jose Pedro Carrillo Gonzalez of Willard. Officers interviewed several witnesses and a priest who arrived at the scene to "speak with anyone that needed to talk," the report states. One employee told police that workers were moving a mold when "something broke and the mold fell." The employee "advised the back plate to the mold fell off and landed on top of (Carrillo Gonzalez)," the report states. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration confirmed it is conducting an investigation of the incident but did not release any other information. A spokesman said the federal agency must complete its review within six months. He wanted to 'serve others' Evans Funeral Home in Norwalk posted Carrillo Gonzalez's obituary, which describes his background: • He was born Sept. 8, 1992, in Durango, Mexico, and lived all of his life in Norwalk. • He graduated from Norwalk High School in 2011. • He worked at the Bellevue-based automotive plant for 15 years. The obituary also states he was active in Huron County's St. Paul Catholic Church and St. Francis Xavier Church, including church youth group, choir and a member of the local Knights of Columbus. "He always wanted to keep his family together, serve others and help anyone he met," the obituary states. A public visitation will occur from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
